Thriving Economy

Plumas County has an opportunity to support and partner with small businesses, local and regional public and private employers, education and more to strengthen the vitality of our workforce.  I will work with fellow board members and community partners to create opportunities to develop a quality workforce, support cross-sector policies that assure competitive wages, and foster a cradle to career pathway.  It is important to work across all sectors to promote early learning, higher education, and vocational and lifelong studies, so local individuals, families and children can gain skills and training for jobs that can support themselves and their families. I will push innovation and creativity at the government level to stimulate a vibrant economy offering robust shopping, dining, cultural, recreation and gathering spaces.  Small businesses are the heart of our local economy, and the County should be constantly working to create an atmosphere where small businesses are empowered to succeed. I will strengthen opportunities to collaborate with local businesses to assure government is a partner, not a barrier, to their success.
